Three Tea Bowls 2010 20"x51'

A perfect tea bowl is one that is not perfect.  There should be fascinating irregularities in the shape and glaze that evoke the earth from which it came.  If filled with hot tea, it should allow your fingers to hold it gently but confidently so you can inhale the fragrance.  As the tea cools, the bowl should seduce you to embrace it in your cupped hands.  Just sitting on a shelf, a perfect tea bowl should remind you of the calm warmth of sipping tea.

  2. Only you can write so eloquently about a tea bowl - so you're an author/poet as well as an artist.
